Did the program say what caused the previous Ice Ages and Warming Cycles in the millions of years before man got here?

This is the Post's article about that from a few days ago.

Thanks. That's a fascinating piece. The "tipping point" arguments are not only the most worrisome, I think that's what Korlburt's book will focus on. I'm not certain whether that concept actually appears but the issue of how far gone are we was central to her New Yorker articles.

Two points of particular interest.

First, the attempt to muzzle Hansen. It's NASA, not NSA and I should have typed it as such. Whatever is the source, whether human activity or not, to constrain public debate by muzzling government scientists is not only unacceptable and not only limits the debate, it dramatically reduces the credibility of the Bush administration argument. Just look at the debates over the cost of the medicare prescription drug benefit in which they muzzled proper estimates of the cost.

But then, second, you get a quote like the following:

But Mary L. Cleave, deputy associate administrator for NASA's Office of Earth Science, said the agency insists on monitoring interviews with scientists to ensure they are not misquoted.

Which we all know is nonsense. Just further undermines anything resembling credibility.
