It can definitely be done. Just look at how Hackett almost beat Jean Schmidt in Ohio's most conservative district. He would beat her by 10% if the election were held over today. But he is going to the senate instead, and he will win.

As Tom Delay falls and his crimes are exposed, there is a domino effect of all his cronies. Not all of them will be voted out, but most will, and they are all vulnerable, even in red states. Only GOP moderates look safe and some of them would vote to impeach Bush.

This year's political struggle will be the rightwing GOP trying to cover up their crimes and change the subject back to terror (their only winning issue, just over 50% approvals), while the democrats and others will be pointing not only at an awful record on Iraq, Medicare, deficits, energy and ethics but at clear evidence of massive criminal activity including gross abuses of power and callous incompetence.

So basically corruption is THE issue. The rightwing is corrupt. Period. They are probably praying for another 9-11 to save them. But that probably won't even work. They are busted, and it's only the tip of the iceberg. Also, Dems are clean. Despite the outrageous RNC lies put out there that Abramoff is a bi-partisan problem.
