In the space of thirty seconds we went from "does not" to "ok...a few". Who knows how far this could go if the conversation continued for a couple minutes more?

Nit pick if you like, but as I said, that's the exception at Apple, not the rule. I made a generalization, and there are always exceptions (and generally they've been minor delays). You might be able to find a Microsoft product that was actually released on time, maybe even most if you actually did statistics, but they don't get their reputation for nothing. Apple earns their reputation on being on time, in part because Jobs goes ballistic when things don't turn out as planned. Gates just says that's the Microsoft way.

The whole point is that Apple aims to be on-time and means it, similar to the Eurorail. Microsoft follows a much looser guideline, not unlike the airline system a decade ago, but more recently, the focus has been more on "on-time" performance.
