With our imperfect memories we probably shouldn't say things like always and never about other people. And yes, there have been other times, but of course you don't remember them. Why should I ever look anything up and share it with you, with that kind of return on the investment of my time? Obviously I should not. So I won't. I'm taking some very good advice, and will try not to engage you in the future.

No one should ever accuse e of not doing research. If you even hint in that direction she will throw a 48 page pdf of densely written social science research stuff at you. That demonstrates beyond a shadow of a doubt that the argument she earlier posted is well supported. ;-)

Thanks again, e, for the article. If I can find a bit of time over the next few days, I'll post a summary of the arguments. It pretty much dovetails with what I had read up to the middle 90s. Both about increasing income disparities in the US and the degree to which those disparities were increasing at a much faster pace than other developed nations. The difference is that this paper draws on a better set of data.
