That was before I started reading your thread Frank how interesting.

Just too few people that can safely multitask.

Frank, I have ridden with family members that are good drivers, but when they are talking on the cellphone - they become very bad drivers - I have almost died 2 times from major accidents because of this - I have made it very clear to all of them that they will not be on any CELL phone while we are in city traffic - only on open highways with no traffic.

I live near HWY US19 in the clearwater fl area - rated last year as the most deadly highway to pedestrians in the nation.

There are many reasons for this, lots of rain all through the year, this making fog and slick roads and poor driving conditions, also lots of congestion, lots of old people down here that are bad drivers to begin with having poor reflexes. Also st pete is one of the most densely populated places in the nation - if not the entire world - like 3000 people per square mile! There is no reason for all these people with dvd movies and lcd screens in thier consoles or flip down sun visors and talking on cell phones and such - it is madness - I sit inside here a lot because I am scared to go out on that highway - its just like the internet - I usually do my shopping at 3am at walmart - too chaotic in the daytime - but now my nieghbors are mad because me cranking the car every morning at 2am is waking them up they say - hehe. I tell them why I do it - and they say fight the 5pm traffic like they do - hehe.

I do not think the police could enforce laws stopping people from using these destracting technologies in their car - its just not feasible given the congestion and amount of people - the police could never even make a dent in the chaos.
