I think it would be smart on the Iranians' part if they show a lot of reluctance initially and finally accept the Russian proposal of uranium enrichment in Russia. If anything could prevent that, it could be the internal political compulsions within Iran.

But if they can pull it off, then the US will have little or no excuse to invade and occupy Khuzestan. The IOB (Iranian oil bourse) is a bigger WMD than the nukes and those in the know understand that.

The neorealists appear to have control of foreign policy. Cheney and Rumsfelt have lost control and Condi has grabbed the reins.

It is unfortunate because the delay in effectively dealing with Iran virtually ensures that Iran will succeed in developing the bomb.
