It looks like the actual yeild was only 50 megatons, but the Soviets did that on purpose. It's design yeild would have been 100 megatons if they hadn't purposely halved it. In it's favor, it was a real "clean" bomb!

I remembered wrong about it having to be built at the site (bad intel!), but look at the picture of the size of the thing! This site has lots of good info on nukes, programs, etc.
