"And to think everyone keeps telling me that global warming is a "bad thing" ..."

If it winds up shutting down the ocean conveyor, try to tell the Europeans it was a good thing.

Global warming is a terrible thing. It's already killing off coral reefs which are the cradles of life for the ocean, which has a chain-reaction down the food chain. I'm an avid scuba diver and it's really sad how poor the reefs are these days compared to just 20 years ago. Just tragic.

Also, many species base their lives on timing the melting of the snows and ice. Plus, weather patterns are getting much more dangerous and violent. As the ocean warms, hurricanes especially will be much worse. We have already seen evidence of that. Plus drought and the drying up of forests which creates forest fires. Water could start becoming really scarce someday. Not to mention skin cancer and rising water levels from melting glaciers resulting in flooding, etc.

What can we do about it? Quit listening to Big Oil's phony scientist propaganda and demanding leaders like Bush pay atention. Stop burning fossil fuels ASAP. That means we'll need to turn warming into an asset by tapping the sun's energy. Hydrogen, solar, wind, etc. Clean sources of inexhaustible energy. The faster we do it the better. Bush-Cheney have moved us backward. We lost at least a decade with them in power.

Ted, And as it turns out, global warming may have had something to do with the good numbers

And to think everyone keeps telling me that global warming is a "bad thing" ...

Yeah, well, when 80º lows for the year become common in the OC and 90º weather becomes normal weather in January, let's talk again about the good aspects of global warming. ;-)
