He's suffering from some things that you fortunately do not have to worry about:

-- an open mind
-- the ability to read
-- the ability to co-relate many different "signs"
-- concern about something EVEN IF it does not directly affect him/her personally, perhaps
-- the ability to adopt some other stance in life other than
disdain
