"State of Fear" by Michael Chrichton actually is a great reference book as long as you stay with his footnotes to his sources of information.
As for his own conclusions while spinning his plot, that makes it good entertainment only and should be treated as such.
But before your dis the book and its rich amount of information as documented back to renown scientists, check out some of those sources mentioned for yourself.
