Right, I have several bum friends with grad and undergrad degrees who just gave up and sat down - it wasn't worth the effort to them to expunge the energy and deal with the stress for what they viewed as a small paycheck. They are not counted in that data and I know quite a few of them. On the flipside however - I bet there are a lot of undocumented workers doing jobs that just aren't accounted for. Take the girls and boys on craigslist selling thier bodies - that is easily in the billions if not more in annual trade - where does that number get reported in official gubbment statistics? I have many friends that have sent a large portion of thier wealth to non reported underground economies.
