"Slaughterhouse Five", yes.
A friend of mine, he is now 66, lived with his family in the outskirts of Dresden and still remembers that the sky indeed was glowing as Vonnegut described it.
His big brother 4 years older came back every late night and told the horror stories about his work, which was collecting human remains and stapling it up to what became big pyres.
