Ted, Seattle got all the tough breaks. Not a great Super Bowl to watch by any measure whatsoever. Lots of plays were called wrong, some penalties shouldn't have happened, and it was just all around ugly football.

Not to mention the commercials pretty much sucked. And the Rolling Stones? Yawn.

Oh well, what can you say?

But there has been no comparable show of backbone in America, where (as of Friday) only the New York Sun has had the fortitude to the run some of the drawings.

There is nothing honorable or desirable about publishing cartoons that are offensive to 20% of the world's population.

If you want the American press to make a similar "free speech statement", ask them to publish cartoons of the Virgin Mary as a whore and of Jesus as a conman. Or naked pictures of Taro's wife.

Yes, interesting isn't it. I thought about it and then I came to another conclusion. It goes like this. If I was an editor, would I risk sparking even more hatred by publishing cartoons that unleashed so much violence? I don't know. It's doesn't seem worth it when it would be so obviously a provocation. There are many ways to point out Muslim lunacy other than deliberately offending their religion.

But then again, Islam is a religion of violence, so I suppose the Dane's were just calling a turkey a turkey.
