Sure did a good job, didn't they? I get the impression they didn't even try.

Personally speaking, I'm not willing to roll tanks for ANY newspaper that prints such cartoons and doesn't have the good sense to apologize for their lack of good taste.
The right to a free press does NOT include your right not to be offended. In this country there are numerous neoNazi and anti-Black papers which I would call offensive but can publish because the gov't is legally barred from preventing them.

Are you willing to give up that right to some mob in a foreign country? Let them determine what your papers can and cannot print?

I can imagine how many Christians would be offended if someone had drawn Jesus with a backpack bomb heading for an Abortion clinic (ala Eric Rudolph).
Fine. They're offended. They're offended by a lot of things. How often do they burn embassies because of it? Shall we throw out the 1st amendment to keep them happy?
