I sold some calls against a position for the first time ever. It seemed like a pretty good deal to me- sold april 50 encana calls for 2.50. I am long the stock. and it seems like this works out to a better than 20% return per annum. if the stock stays the same or goes down I pick up 5% over two months or so. better than a money market. if it goes to 50 I make about 10% over two months.

And JNJ gets $800 million from BSX via GDT break up fee. Not bad for "losing" this deal, even acknowledging that some of the $$$ will be used to pay lawyers, I bankers, etc., in the pursuit of GDT.
