Fish & Silver differ in that fish must be traded soon or it loses nearly all it's value. (about 3 days)

If your at the fish market, they are equivilent.

If its a week long trip to get there they are not. The silver would probably be much better

If your shipwrecked the fish are worth more.

How much something is worth to you always depends on your situation. No one form of compensation is inherently superior to all people in all situations.
