WHAT moderate Muslims? I'm beginning to believe they're a mythical beast. I believe there ARE moderate muslims. But like the "silent majority" in the US, their strong pacifist believes are being overshadowed in the news by the Salafists/Takfirists: islamicpluralism.org islamicpluralism.org Remember Lazarus, there is a ideological civil war going on within Islam, where religious militancy is being promoted as a political movement. It behooves us to appreciate that fact and to support and enable the moderates to wage that ideological war. It certainly does not help their cause when they have to play "apologist" for hurtful and inflammatory political cartoons that slander their religious leader. Given the disparity of sects and "flavors" of Islam (just as in Christianity), it works in our favor to insure that this diversity continues, with spiritual "wars" for souls being waged peacefully, tolerantly, and logically.
