Crimson > What it will do though, is intensify and cement the feelings of bitterness and humiliation experienced by millions of Muslims as they endure the wrath of US-led Western wars, with all of their tragedies and endless bloodshed.

And, in return, it will harden the attitudes of those in the West towards Islam and the belief that all Muslims are terrorists or if not exactly terrorists then quasi-terrorists bent on illegal acts and the destruction of the property of law-abiding Western nations.

What a feather in the cap for the neocons. A brilliantly conceived attack against Islam made to appear as a bit of bad taste -- indeed, a laughing matter.

Crimson,

A few side related items that you missed.

I believe within days, certainly within a few weeks, you will see underground websites popping up everywhere with many more insulting Islamic cartoons.

There are many people in the world who find it strangely ironic that a cartoon which, regrettably, purports to show Mohammed (and Muslims everywhere) as violent has in fact created a violent reaction.

If those cartoons are truly portraying an unfair depiction of Muslims why are so many of them doing their best to make it come true?

I wish I could tell you firsthand that I think the cartoons are demeaning, unfair and racist. Unfortunately, I can't even find them on the internet. Difficult for me and many of us to make a fair judgement without seeing exactly what the cartoons said.

I bet only a very small minority of the violent protestors have actually seen them as well.

You also have found some inconsistencies in how people have reacted to these circumstances. That much we can agree upon.
