I think you are not aware of the current controversy surrounding the depiction of Prophet Muhammad as a terrorist. This appeared in the Danish newspapers way back in August 2005. That is the spark for the Iranian President to utter the words against Israel. He knew very well that to the Jews, Holocaust is like God. So he depicts the Jewish God and makes fun of it and that infuriates not only the Jews but all the other countries including the Europeans who are far more racial that the Americans.

This is an opportunity for Bush to demonstrate that he is a world leader. I think so far the Russians have beaten Bush on that. Even a third world country such as India has demonstrated that they have much more influence on Iran than does Bush.

Right now the US looks like a terrorist to others in the world similar to how Germany was viewed before WWII. We cannot walk into any country at will just because we do not see eye to eye with them. We do not want to take our politics in the same direction as Hitler did by marching into Poland.

What if Iran agrees to let Russia and/or China do the uranium enrichment? That should satisfy most people (except, of course, the neocons who have the "what's our oil doing under their country" mentality towards every oil-rich nation that doesn't have a nuke...)

It will be interesting, especially if Iran gets the other side/s to agree that they will defend Iran in case it is attacked without provocation. I think Iran and Russia/China are thrashing it out right now.

There's a precedent for having a terrorist as head of a government - you need look no further than Begin.
