Totally agree with your position. Those depending upon America maintaining its privileged position will be disappointed. Russ makes the point that massive increases in liquidity distort the demand signals of the economy and as a result non-productive assets receive all of the capital investment. You have identified the same trend in employment. While investment bankers and real estate agents make the big dollars, there is little incentive to become educated in the sciences. I personally never pursued my Masters in CompSci because I could make more money going into management.
