President Lincoln used the warrantless wiretapping of telegraph messages during the Civil War to discern the movements and intentions of opposing troops. President Wilson in World War I authorized the military to intercept each and every cable, telephone and telegraph communication going into or out of the United States. During World War II, President Roosevelt instructed the government to use listening devices to learn the plans of spies in the United States. He also gave the military the authority to review, without warrant, all telecommunications, quote, "passing between the United States and any foreign country." Gosh... What Fascists those presidents were... How could they even ponder the thought of defying the rights of Americans citizens merely for the misguided assertion that they were doing it to defend those very same citizens.. And gosh... Ah, BDS is such an insidious disease. It literally unhinges the mind from all reality. It causes the victim to begin foaming at the mouth & become extremely aggressive. Sadly it causes them to viciously attack their perceived enemies by any means necessary. It often results in untold numbers of innocent victims being attacked. The only known cure is to provide them with a mirror every time they lash out. Eventually they come to see themselves as their own worst enemy. Unfortunately, one must be prepared to provide this cure relentlessly with the foreknowledge that only a tiny fraction of them will be freed of this horrific disease. Sigh
