This kind of behavior in the end will only bring the focus on Islam itself , and the result will be that any comparisons between Islam and other religions leaves Islam standing out in the intensity and magnitude of violent response . There maybe sense of justifyable outrage , but every time the world sees the images of this global vilolence, it will fuel the perception that Islam is the least tolerant of all religions , and living in in a frail cocoon of some backward medieval past .

The taliban , al-quaida , hamas etc may all think they've gained some advantage by inciting & "rallying the faithful" but the more this continues the effect will be to put their own actions and themselves under the microscope . And they are still left with the entire spectrum of original problems of unemployment overpopulation economics that a current impotent leadership resorts to such religious controls that were defined and imposed centuries ago.

Upon reflection , I did see one good thing that has seemed to evolve in this latest episode , that at least theres not been the usual whacho Imam or Mullah putting some fatwah of death on the journalists who created and published the cartoons <g>

In a way they are learning ...but we still have to deal with Iran & the mad Ahmadinejad and this latest "messiah cult" he and the "12" have dreamed up . If they really want to function in the 21rst century , he and his Ayatola friends will have to come with something better than this medieval "Godman" idea , as if they have by some magic the key to all human destiny , when so much has been willing shared with them .

They sure loved the technology , science ,medicine and creativity of the west that left them so far behind didn't they? They are so overmatched and prolly will end up setting themselves back once again by decades . Perhaps the Iranians will snap out of it at some point , who knows , but reviving so much religious based superstition and peddling historical hatreds as their platform is such a scapegoat and thin veil for their own impotency and desire to retain authority and power . Won't make the fundamental problems disappear .

And yes , those cartoons were published originally back in sept ....took them all this time to get "outraged & offended" <g>

Journalism never sleeps though ....and the contrived plot to incite is becoming all too obvious , and the world press is already picking up on it .
