As for the Muslim prohibition on depicting Mohammad, I had never heard that before in all the reading I have done on the man.....why do you think the Danes knew a priori?

1. I assume the author of the children's book which was supposed to contain cartoons depicting Mohamed knew something about Islam or at least knew some Muslims.

2. In every interview I've seen with the editors they have defended their right to free speech, but they never claimed "innocent mistake". If they had no idea it was sacreligious I imagine that would be their leading answer to each discussion over the past few weeks.
