Nortel Networks Corp. is proposing to pay $2.5 billion (U.S.) in cash and stock to settle two shareholder class-action lawsuits in the United States over an accounting scandal in 2004.

Tom,

So, who gets what? Do all shareholders of record at the time of the restatement get their portion regardless of whether they signed up to the lawsuit or not? Plus, there's no clear mention of how much of this total sum will be covered by insurance which should reduce the actual cash outlay for the company.
