I agree with this post, Rambi. I stated my concern with op ed pieces like this one from Williams in the post just ahead of this one, as a reply to Kholt. I believe there is much more at stake in such arguments than simply arguing about what is a right. Rather it's about finding ways to diminish the likelihood of the social policy being enacted. Else Williams would make much more careful distinctions.

As for debates about driving as a right or a privilege, I've had those and we are on the same side. Basically, I either change the frame, change the subject, or avoid the conversation. It's generally a waste. What I call dart throwing rather than talking.

Driving is neither a right nor a privilege. Wrong frame as far as I'm concerned.
