The day an American President publicly chastises conservative Christians for their eschatology is the day when we will start the road to peace in the ME.

I understand the logic of your argument and concur.

I do think there's a difference between holding personal beliefs about a subject, and publicly stating such views being the actual basis of the administration's policies.

And while Bush may hold some of these views, I haven't really heard him discussing it publicly..

This set him apart from Ahmadinejad, who publicly affirms that he holds these beliefs.

And the fact that he publicly holds these beliefs and sets such beliefs as the basis for his policy decision in Iran, only increases those sentiments from the reactionary right wing in the US.

One thing that is different is that I don't see Bush threatening to wipe entire Muslim countries off the face of the earth.
