Wait, I think I know how the next verse of this goes.

"Oh, but don't you see, those 5 million shorts shouldn't be ALLOWED to keep their positions if the shareholders retract their borrows! That's the whole POINT of moving shares to cash accounts, to force brokers to buy in those damned shorts and push up the price of the stock in the process!"
