"I also refuse to give Islam the right to dictate the content of the western press. Period."

That is the point. Bad taste is not illegal in most of the West. I would not allow myself to live in a place where it was.

OK well I just sent this to Fox News email:

I just watched your current events Fox News panel. One complaint I keep hearing from you is that moderate Muslims are not speaking against radicalism. That simply isn't true. However, moderate Muslims don't have forums such as yours that reach millions of homes.

I noticed the chair you reserved for a moderate Muslim to express a view on this issue was no where to be seen (once again) on the panel which was wondering why moderate Muslims do not speak up on issues that effect them. Another complaint that seems to be rising on the venue is that Muslims seem to want to coerce others to their way of thinking. That, is forbidden by Islamic doctrine but I doubt we will hear much about it in the Media.

I refuse to give anyone the right to dictate anything to me. That doesn't stop people with all kinds of venues from thinking they have the right to.

A lot of anxiety could be dispelled with a little calmness and common sense at the leadership level. You haven't provided that. You have provided a western forum for upping the anti.

The prohibition in Islam is against Muslims (not other people) creating anything that could lead to idol worship. So it is prohibited for Muslims to produce religious statues, pictures, etc that over time could gain an exaggerated sense of admiration. The most likely to gain worship status would be images of Mohammed, so that is especially guarded against. Anyone who claims those cartoons qualify is obviously an extremist loon, acting out a self serving agenda.

The fact that the toons were disrespectful is a totally different issue. The current events surrounding this now are taking on a reality of their own. In my opinion you all have missed an opportunity to do something good here.

Best regards,
