Fedman and Cartonet - Two biotechs have come to my attention recently via two different sources.

First one is IYXI.ob - $2.60
biz.yahoo.com

sec.gov
This was mentioned to me by the venture capital guy in chicago as a thankyou for dejour...whatever. The claim is that it is consolidating and the hedgefunds are about to take it to $4. He actually told me to buy some that day as it was trading at 2.45. I actually got a follow up email from him today asking me if i got some ....that it was moving. I am empty handed on this one but have watched it for about a week now. Any thoughts?

Second one is PPHM - Peregrine Pharma Inc. - $1.40
sec.gov

This was mentioned to me by my long time morgan stanley advisor. Apparently one of his clients that works in the pharmaceutical industry has a brother-in-law who works at the company. The mystery guy says they have some drugs for cancer and hepatitis that should get approved....again..whatever. I learned of this yesterday, so I am just now digging in. Any thoughts on this one?

Actually there is a third one with Memphis connections.
GTX Inc. (GTXI) - $10.40
I learned of this one back around the IPO in February of 2004. "Pitt" Hyde aka Joseph R. Hyde,III owns around 8.1m shares of this company.
biz.yahoo.com
He has actually sold tons of his AZO stock to fund purchases of GTXI. Why? Well I think the why is because they have a prostate cancer drug that works. How do I know this? Well Dr. Mitchell S. Steiner M.D., F.A.C.S, 45
Co Founder, Vice Chairman and Chief Exec. Officer of GTX Inc was the doctor that cured Pitt of his prostate cancer back in 1996 (with an experimental drug.) I remember this because at the time i was dating the president of AZO's daughter and I heard all about it...since both families were close personally and professionally. Anyway when I heard about the IPO and read the profile and saw the doctor's name...and then saw Pitt's ownership...it was hard for me to stay away. I believe Morgan Keegan was pushing this stock pretty hard on it's clients (in the 13's)....I know a few people who own it. Needless to say I stayed away because Phase 1-3 is just another way of saying crap shoot. However, Pitt is still alive and active in the community. Was he an anomaly? I guess we'll know when they finish phase 3. Fedman you may know about this one already via businessweek.

Actually Fed thanks for getting me focused back on biotech, because I had forgotten about this hometown company.
