I have a brochure in my closet from a company in Seattle (Society Expeditions) that expected to be sending people up in the Space Shuttle -- I got the brochure in '85, and they said they thought passengers would be going up as early as '89 I recall. They put a tiny sticker over the price they expected to charge, which I peeled off to reveal $50,000. And of course, after Challenger Exploded, no more was said of it.
