If I remember rightly, the USA told everyone to get out of town as they were going to rumble the Islamic Jihadists who were there. They gave them a few days to evacuate. Canada suffered its first combat deaths since the Korean War in April 2002 when a U.S. Air Force pilot flying a surveillance mission mistakenly bombed a group of Canadian soldiers, killing four and wounding eight others. A joint U.S.-Canadian inquiry into the “friendly fire” incident found that the American pilots did not follow proper procedures. >
