DJ Japan PM: May "Not Stick To" Bill To Let Empress On Throne

.

TOKYO (AP)--Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi on Friday hinted he wouldn't push ahead with a bill allowing women to ascend to Japan's imperial throne.

Speaking to reporters Friday, Koizumi said he may "not stick to" plans to submit the bill at the current Parliament session.

"Circumstances have changed," he said, apparently alluding to this week's announcement of Princess Kiko's pregnancy, which raised the possibility of a new male heir to the Chrysanthemum Throne. The news has taken the steam out of Koizumi's drive to let empresses reign.

No male heir to the throne has been born since 1965.

Corruption in government has to be exposed in every nook and cranny in order to preserve a functioning system. Corruption that leads to war is the most serious offense of all. It still has not been legally recognized.
