I agree with the need for the discussion, but don't believe it can happen with Bush in office unless he starts to cut ties with the Rove/Cheney sect. Rove and Cheney have used polarization as their main tool for securing power. They can't just 'turn it off', even if they were inclined. Any real discussion, at a level that matters, and healing of the rift, will have to wait for Bush to be gone. Unfortunately, there will be more damage done before we get to that point.
