People could look at the balance sheets and see what it was. <The official said investigators are also looking at other possible illegalities, including insider trading and money laundering. He declined to elaborate, but said Japanese regulators have established ties with foreign investigative authorities and are looking into foreign firms' possible involvement in the Livedoor activities. > I am sure the investigators are desperately looking at all possible illegalities. They need something, and sooner rather than later. Insider trading? I heard that emails would go around instructing nobody to buy shares during quiet periods. Of course insiders would have been buying and selling, as usual, in all companies. The question of insider trading is questionable - I am not even sure that it should be illegal. Foreign firms were involved, such as Lehman Brothers. I doubt that they were being Yakusa money launderers. I think they were being financiers. Which is a good thing. My stash of US$ cash needs somewhere to go on loan. It isn't "possible involvement in Livedoor activities" as they were involved. So what? So far, all there has been is innuendo and a possible murder by an angry establishmentarian out to get Livedoor by hook or by crook. So far, it looks like by crook. Meanwhile, unlike in free societies, they have caged Horie with no charge, in the hope that they can find something. Odd! Criminal in my opinion. Japan might have to go on the schedule of evil-doers and Axis of Evil if they start that treatment of individuals. They did it in Russia because an oil "oligarch", or oilgarch in that instance, got smart with Putin. Capitalists don't like being randomly gaoled by the envious and greedy. Mqurice
