I wouldn't call it TeoTwawki in the sense you've described it. More a morphing to a new era.

The USA could continue to improve in absolute terms, just as NZ did for decades, while declining in relative terms, just as NZ did. Everyone can be happier, or if not happier since that isn't very well linked to material well-being in my experience other than transiently, then certainly wealthier. Yet one can be going relatively backwards in financial relativity theory while others surge ahead at warp speed.
