I drive perhaps 60 miles per year

I see, that is a fundamental difference between us and our cultures I guess. I drive much more - to places like disney world - have you been to the one here or in Hong Kong?

I take buses all over the country too which also uses lots of oil/gas. I was under the assumption you were always flying in and out of places all over the globe with fuel consuming airplanes and taking taxis and such to and from all your business meetings/airports - does this not consume lots of gas/oil? How much is your average plane ticket or taxi bill in US dollars? How much higher will they have to go before you stop taking business trips and stay home and telecommute?

You will need lots of oprah types running for the exits wanting to buy your gold and increasing demand to get a 200K an ounce price rise as I have seen posted here - exactly when do you expect the oprah crowd to turn off FEAR FACTOR - get scared - mass psychology change and run to the pawn shop and get her some shiny metal? I live here amongst many pacified people General - I went to mexico expecting to find some poverty and fear - but many pacified people there too. Then I went up to canada - even MORE pacified - I just dont see any great things happening to them in a short time to make them all SCARED and run to the pawn shops and buy up all the gold - but maybe in your part of the world people are lots more scared. I posted a link where the folks in brazil are about to go heavy into housing - they dont seem scared or fearful and wanting lots of gold - perhaps the saudi boys are scared and fearful and wanting lots of gold - but gold is not going to stop the tank.

I look at the worst impacted people in my part of the world - NAWLINS - and even though they were in chaos, anarchy, no gubbment, nazi swat teams killing people, citizens killing each other - mass death - all the things you say make gold VALUABLE - I did not see a lot of folks robbing pawn stores for gold chains - I did see them stealing tv's and food and guns and drugs - what did they forget?
