"the Global Warming crap is bad science, because we don't have enough data"

That is factually in error. We actually have a lot of data and there are several different models that give similar results. Calling it bad science because there isn't enough data shows little understanding of the field as it is today.

The agenda for most grad students is to do their research, maybe some publications and get a degree. There isn't a whole lot more time for anything else.

Considering Bethell is an open proponent of Intelligent Design, his views on science are definitely colored by conspiracy theories on how the "scientific establishment" is trying to hide the "truth".

Global Warming is not only 100% real but accelerating in very dangerous ways. Not a single credible scientist in the world denies global warming anymore, just cronies of the big polluters who do not have any of our interests in mind, just short-term profits using old-fashioned fuels we need to be getting off and replacing with clean ones ASAP.

Even Bush-Cheney admit this now, however grudgingly since they were big liars about this in the recent past.

And yes we also have to stop burning forests. But global warming also causes more forest fires. Not to mention worse and worse hurricanes. Global warming is a far bigger threat to the world than terrorism. Look at Katrina. No bomb Al Qaida could ever get would cause that much damage. Of course, both are grave threats, especially if we continue bungling the Middle East and continue being slaves to Arab oil.
