In the days when I had time to waste trying to convert Jehovah's Witnesses to atheism, it came in very handy that I had read the bible in spite of having not a scintilla of religious feeling. The bible, as a collection of myths and stories gathered 2000 years ago, is so internally contradictory that you can find a quote to support just about anything, and I had a large arsenal of these inconsistencies at my mental command at the time. I lived for a while right near a JW temple, and eventually I figured out that one of the more experienced ones was bringing by the newbies to see if they would crack under my assault of Biblical quotes. This took the fun out of it, and I stopped answering the door when they came by. LC
