Interview
After Words with David Rieff
C-SPAN, BookTV
Washington, District of Columbia (United States)
ID: 191164 - 02/10/2006 - 0:57 - $29.95

Rieff, David, Contributing Editor, [New Republic]
Clark, Wesley K., Supreme Allied Commander (1997-2000), NATO, Europe

David Rieff was interviewed about his book At the Point of a Gun: Democratic Dreams and Armed Intervention, published by Simon and Schuster. In his book, David Rieff explains the history of interventionism and how it has influenced U.S. foreign policy. Mr. Rieff was a supporter of intervening militarily during both the Rwandan and Bosnian genocides, until the war in Iraq changed his opinion. He now believes that intervention should only be used as a last resort. He was interviewed by Gen. Wesley Clark (Ret.), the former NATO Allied supreme commander who led the military operation in Kosovo.

David Rieff is a widely published writer and journalist. His work covers a variety of subjects including international conflict, disaster, immigration and American politics. His books include: Slaughterhouse: Bosnia and the Failure of the West; The Exile: Cuba in the Heart of Miami; Los Angeles: Capital of the Third World; and Going to Miami: Tourists, Exiles and Refugees in the New America.

General Clark was a candidate for the 2004 Democratic Party presidential nomination.
