Why did you omit Mitt Romney. he has said that he is not going to run for Governor again and has left the door open for a Presidential run. I would think he has a good shot considering he is a Mormon from Salt Lake.

IMO, the Dems will come up with a candidate who has not surfaced yet, similar to the Jimmy Carter scenario in 1976.

I am Stateside this month on a family visit.

I saw Wes Clark once in Sarajevo. Very impressive individual. Probably right for a VP slot but it's not clear what he would be like as a leader in his own right.

Kerry and Gore were both Lite versions of what the Dems are looking for, which is another Clinton (meaning someone with genuine political charisma, not the manufactured Hillary variety). I'll have to see more of Warner once I am back Stateside permanently this fall, then decide.

In my Balkan days, I saw about 1/3 of the Senate at that time come through on visits of various sorts. George Mitchell and Joe Biden were the two smartest by a very wide margin. Too bad Mitchell is past competitive politics now; plus he is a dry guy from Maine, not too marketable as a national candidate.

I love McCain's self-deprecating sense of humor. Shows me he has some depth that the current batch of incumbents sorely lacks.

Biden should have run in 2004. I have always felt that Kerry is Biden-Light.

Hoo-boy, now that is light! Biden is not exactly one of your deep thinkers.
