I could agree with everything in that article except the headline.
When I was young we used little IF ANY oil from outside the USA. Of course we had far fewer vehicles and petroleum products besides gasoline were almost non existent. Whose to say, through the use of bio energy, hydrogen, whatever that we cant return to those days? I think its all a matter of economics and timing. Someday, somehow we will become independent of Middle East (or anyone elses oil), I dont know how or when but I am confident that day will come. My arguement is we ought to TAKE THAT FIRST STEP now by mandating flex fuel vehicles. They may not be the FINAL answer but they would be a start and its NOT an expensive option on an individual basis. jdn
