09:01 HILL Dot Hill Systems: earnings preview (7.30 )

Canaccord Adams December notes Dot Hill Systems is scheduled to report Dec quarter and year-end results on Wednesday, Feb 15. The firm says Sun Microsystems (SUNW) should once again drive HILL results and contribute over 80% of total revenue. The firm says in its quarter report, Sun indicated $303 mln in (non-StorageTek) storage revenue, a 14% sequential decline. Sun attributed the weakness to the low-end of its storage product line. The firm notes the low-end StoreEdge 3000 products are the low end of Sun's product line and are supplied by HILL. The firm says although the Sun weakness may put HILL at the low-end of its guidance, they believe investor focus will be on the approaching ramp of NTAP as an O.E.M customer. The firm says this ramp is expected in the late-Q2 time frame, and, when ramped, will provide much needed dilution to HILL's Sun customer concentration issue. They note Fujitsu, also announced as an O.E.M partner last month, is expected to ramp in the same time frame. They believe HILL's relationship with Sun remains strong and that it is well on its way to a major new O.E.M ramp with Network Appliance that will begin to deliver revenue in the back half of 2006. With recent indications from IBM and EMC of strong demand in the mid-to-low end of the storage systems market, they believe Dot Hill is well positioned for substantial growth over the next several years.
