8:18AM Nokia launches three phones include mid-range 6131 (NOK) by Aude Lagorce
BARCELONA (MarketWatch) - Nokia, the world's largest handset maker, unveiled three new phone models on Monday, saying it expects the new 6131 camera phone to be one of its best-selling mid-range models. The clamshell handset, which flips open at the touch of a button and features a 1.3 megapixel camera, will cost around 275 euros ($327) and launch in the second quarter of the year. "We believe this will be one of the most sold mid-range phones in the world," Kai Oistamo, head of Nokia's Mobile Phones unit, said at the 3GSM trade show in Barcelona. He added he expects the phone to be sold in "tens of millions" of units over its lifecycle. Nokia also launched the 6136, equipped with a technology that will allow it to connect to wireless hotspots, and the Nokia 6070, a basic candy-bar model equipped with large keys and a large display for those who like it "sweet and simple." Those two models will also be available in the second quarter.
