seventh_son...."I would say that there is a right to publish or read these kind of things, but whether it is a wise thing to do, knowing that at this point it is basically picking a fight with some radical and unhinged people, is another question. I hope that it is received by the public and the world that this is a fight being picked by a particular editor with his own agenda, not a fight being picked by Western Canadians or Canadians in general.".....

I get your point but should the free world give in to these unhinged people? And there by letting them think that the free world is afraid and will buckle under threat of their violence? Should they be permitted to become even more powerful that they already are? What will they do next time something they don't like comes along knowing that Canada backed down already in the face of their threat of violence?

As awful as this may sound I believe that in the long run it is the best thing that could happen to face down radical islam in the free world once and for all...these people MUST know their place in a democratic and free society just like the rest of us. They must understand once and for all that when they come to our country they live by our rules and our laws. IMO a lot of lives will be saved if they are confronted now.

What would happen to us if you or I were to act as they do in their country?

Police say no evidence attack on Montreal imam was hate crime Canadian Press

MONTREAL (CP) - Police said Monday there is no reason to believe a recent attack on a Muslim imam was a hate crime.

Faycal Zirari was wearing a traditional Muslim skull cap when a man punched him inside a subway car on Friday night.

The 31-year-old Muslim cleric and two companions followed the suspect as he fled and tried to restrain him outside.

The suspect was armed with a knife and Zirari suffered cuts to a leg and an arm. His friend Ressam Chargui, 26, had an eye and an arm injured.

Although some members of the Muslim community immediately called it a hate crime, Montreal police say that does not appear to be the case.

"We have no information right now telling us this is a hate crime," said police spokesman Stephane Eid.

Adding to the tension in Montreal, two mosques were vandalized last week in nearby Laval.

Juan Carlos Arouz-Miranda, 31, has been charged with armed assault, assault and possession of a weapon in relations to the Friday incident.

Immigration authorities were unable to confirm reports that Arouz-Miranda faces an outstanding warrant.

He remained in police custody Monday.

Premier Jean Charest said it is up to police to determine the circumstances of the stabbing.

"I hope it's not related to this sad episode that we're living," he said, asking Quebecers to debate such issues in a peaceful and open manner.

Ezra Levant.
The name should give some indication as to why he published the cartoons.
