People tell me they want to measure prices but will not tell me what prices they are measuring.

It plain out idiotic.
They belong on Bush's team or the FED.

"Trust us, we know 'whatever' when we see it"

That holds true for terrorism, prices, inflation, hookers, quality, and pornography.

It's all subjective and can't be measured, which is exactly what the government wants. It is also why the government just says "trust us" and hopes to get away with it.

Well GST might not be able to measure quality or define a proper basket of goods and services, or measure or weight that basket any better than the government can. His subjectivity is likely to be as far off in one direction as the government cheats in the other.

The government has proven without a doubt that price measurements do not work. Either that or GST agrees with the CPI. If he disagrees then he should name his basket of goods and services and explain how they are weighted as well as explain how to account for thing like quality and new products as I asked earlier.

He won't for the simple reason he can't. No one else can either. Measurements of quality are just too subjective. No matter how one defines the basket, it favors one group over another (producers vs consumers, home owners vs renters) for example.

GST wants interest rates set on the basis of something he has no idea how to measure. It is out and out silly. He knows he can't possibly answer the questions so he hides behind a rock.
