LOL...I know better, Win..!!

But if you really want some AH fun, I can direct you to a thread where you can play ...at the same time...with H&Ss and other pretty patterns not only in a stock's price, but in any derivative(s) of that price you might want to take a shine to........RSI, MACD, DMI, Stochastics.....you name it. Imagine the fantasies possible !!!

As soon as you think you see the pattern taking shape, you should do what it says to do, i.e. get short. Before taking the trade, though, you need to determine your exit point, so that if your hypothesis doesn't work out, you take a smaller loss.

I would say that's your dominant strategy, no matter what other traders do.

If you're wrong about the pattern, you'd prefer a smaller loss to a bigger one, assuming you'd have the same exit point regardless of whether you enter the trade ASAP or only on a neckline break. If you're right about the pattern, you get whatever profit lies between you and those who only short after a break of the neckline.

In fact, this is an example of why I never worry about what any other traders will do. My dominant strategy is to do what I think is right.

Shorting a H&S Top....FYI Before shorting, my voodoo requires me to wait....after a valid H&S breakout ....for a return to the neckline.

I have on occasion become rebellious, however, and shorted at the top of a presumed....unconfirmed.......right shoulder....videlicet: AMD on a glorious day in late Dec 2004 !!
