"Both the sheriff's department and the state have determined that alcohol did not appear to be a factor. "

I wonder how they did that? Count beer cans?

No, Cheney wasn't "cited" for breaking the hunting law.

And that's a HUGE problem.

The sheriff's dept determined there was "no wrong doing."

If people get a ticket for a minor fender bender car "accident", the law most certainly should require the police to issue a ticket for any shooting accident!

In the state I grew up, they weren't even putting people in jail if they killed their hunting buddy in an accident, until it finally got national attention.

I have a serious problem with this country's laws that permit people to shoot each other without any type of ticket from the POLICE.

The lack of an adequate law - that requires at a minimum a police ticket if you accidentally shoot someone - creates an unsafe environment for hikers without such a law.
