"It suggests that he's pretty much down to his core supporters out there ... and everyone else has left," says Richard Stoll, a political scientist at Rice University.

And I wonder just how big that core is. Whenever one of them rears their ugly head someone I least expect slaps them down. And they rear their ugly heads less and less these days.

Last nite, the woman in my cohort who is a Republican started to complain that Cheney was getting no respect over this hunting accident. Suddenly, this real mild manner guy turned to her and set I wouldn't go there if I were you. He gave her a look and she shut her mouth very quickly. I suddenly realized she has become much less vocal in general these days........even with non political issues. Apparently, someone has spoken to her in private.
