You were the one who last week challenged condi rice and the US committment to israel given what you consider their soft response to hamas. NYTimes today talks of joint US/Israel effort to annul the election if hamas doesnt recognize peace process, 2 states, and end of terror.

To win the larger war on terror, the US needs peace in the Middle East to help diffuse growing arab anger. It may be an impossible dream but it is one the US at least needs to pay lip service to at times. I KNOW that there are other issue that inflame things between the west and the arab world but removal of I/P war would be a big step forward. Al quaeda may not priortize the israel/pal conflict but many brainwashed moslems all over the world focus on little else.
