Cheney and Bush have much in common. They both shot from the hip with disasterous consequences. Cheney hit Whittington and is trying to cover-up and Bush hit Iraq and is trying to cover-up.
The Republican party has nothing in it but devious half wits.

"...now has a silent heart attack because at least one pellet was embedded in his heart?"

Source please. Googled Whittington heart pellet, got nothing in the first 10 hits.

<<There are a lot of things about this that don't make sense. If there were three of them in hunting in the brush and the third guy was somewhere out of sight behind them, why did he turn and shoot without knowing where that guy was? Is it "normally" ok to shoot behind you in that circumstance?>>

The third guy, instead of staying abreast of the other two had dropped back and over and was behind Cheney, where Cheney should have had a clear field of fire. When I hunted in heavy brush or standing corn we'd give a holler about every minute to keep the line even and if someone had a reason to vary from walking in the line, yell out and let them know where you're at. Apparently the lawyer had stayed silent and wandered behind Cheney.

When you're walking in a line your shooting zone is 45 degrees to your left and right and the same behind. Think of this as a "friendly fire" accident because one person wasn't where he should be and didn't tell the others. BTW, Cheney bagged the quail on the same shot.

What sickens me about this whole thing is the MSM's belief that somehow Cheney's office was required to inform them..

This completely DISREGARDS the concern for the family of Mr. Whittington.

Suppose one of us is out with a celebrity and they somehow injure us (maybe in a car accident). Doesn't the victim have a certain right to privacy, or at least the right to release the information as they see fit??

Certainly if they're concerned about the well-being of the victim and don't want a media circus, one would think they would like to keep it as low-key as possible.

So maybe, just maybe, Cheney was deferring to local media release in order to protect the family.

Btw, I seem to recall a little incident that Sen. Kerry got into in Sun Valley, ID while he was campaigning. Seems he was skiing down a slope and inadvertantly he ran into one of his Secret Service detail, which caused Kerry to fall.

Ths is what he had to say:

During Kerry's descent, a Secret Service agent clipped him, causing him to fall. When a reporter asked him about the incident a few moments later, Kerry replied: "I don't fall down. The son of a bitch knocked me over!"

Reporters later said that they had seen Kerry fall six times, even though Kerry was out of sight for part of the descent. Is is possible that Kerry could perform the unthinkable by causing the press corps to root for a Republican?

Shouldn't Skiing accidents be considered equal to hunting accidents?.. ;0)
